While we were making our way to the Sapa village in Hanoi, we came across members of the Hmong tribe overlooking the vast expanse of rice fields. I wonder what the little boy standing the edge of the hill is thinking about. I like this scene; it resonates with the collectivistic culture that permeates the social fabric in most parts of Vietnam - where individual needs are subservient to the collective good. Will be posting more short stories from Vietnam over the next few entries (: Stay tuned!
